- Tony Matthews posted the following:
-
- : I dial up my uni account using MLINK to provide the internet protocol,
- : and I wish to redirect UNIX X clients to my local display provided by
- : AmiWin. However to do this I need to know my local IP display number.
-
- : Does anyone know how to find this out? I could not find it in the
- : documentation of either MLINK or AmiWin.
-
- 1st'ly - you'll have to be running an X-Window client at your end (eg
- AmiWin) otherwise those programs will NOT show up at your end.
-
- 2nd'ly - usually, when you dial in, you will be granted a IP number for
- the phone line.... eg thisplace.soandso.ac.uk etc etc
-
- just do a "who" whilst logged on, and you'll see where you are in the
- end brackets normally id process place (from here)
-
- then just use that IP number.... BUT i would _NOT_ recommend running
- X-Windows clients over a 14.4K line...is is not nice at all.
